Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award 2024 at the National Portrait Gallery

The Herbert Smith Freehills (formerly BP) Portrait Award returned to the National Portrait Gallery in London this year. Alumna and Instructor Isabella Watling was awarded second prize for her portrait of ‘Zizi’ wearing an original dress by Simone Rocha. Painted entirely from life at her private studio on Talgarth Road in London, the painting is sight-size and to the scale of life.

Student Gabriel J. Lewis was also selected for the show with his portrait of ‘Shannice’ painted whilst studying with us in Florence.
